MUST INAUGURATE THE THIRD WORKERS' COUNCIL
The Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST) has launched the Third Workers Council of the University.
The launch took place on November 24, 2022 at the Nyerere hall, where the Chairman of the Workers Council and Vice Chancellor Prof. Aloys Mvuma has called on the staff of the University to work professionally, cooperatively and in accordance with the rules, regulations and procedures of the Public Service.
Among other things, Prof. Mvuma has said that the Workers Council is a very important tool and is a legal platform for joint discussion between Institution Management and Staff regarding the responsibilities and interests of the Staff, so he wanted the new Council to be a catalyst in advising the Management on various aspects of the University development in order to bring productivity and efficiency in work performance.
In addition, he said that the University will continue to improve the efficiency of the Meetings of the Workers' Councils to ensure that they build capacity and understanding about the various rights and entitlements of the Workers.
And the Representative of the Labor Commissioner from the Office of the Prime Minister, Employment, Labor and People with Disabilities Mr. Laban Mgimba has said that the Workers' Council is based on the democracy of giving ideas or opinions and sharing challenges and successes in the workplace, and the importance of the Workers' Council should be seen in the raising of arguments and the construction of better arguments and thus it is important for every member of the council to understand well the best way to raise and build arguments to be presented to the council.
The inauguration of the council went hand in hand with the election of the new leaders of the council, which is the Secretary of the Council Ms. Justina Rwamkomezi, Assistant Secretary Dr. Musa Ngonyani, others are the executive committee of the council with a total of nine members from various Departments and Units of the University.
The council will work for a period of three years from October, 2022 to September 2025.
