Prof. Aloys Ntanturo Mvuma

Vice Chancellor

On behalf of the Management, I am delighted to welcome you all to Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), the home to academic enthusiasts and agents of change in innovation, science and technology.

MUST boasts a long and unique history of excellence in academics. The University was established as a result of a transformation of the previous Mbeya Technical College (MTC), which was founded in 1986, to Mbeya Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) in 2005, and then to Mbeya University of Science and Technology in 2012.

The University marked its 10th year of service to the public in 2022. Since its inception, MUST has continued to be at the forefront in advocating its primary mission of offering high-quality education, research and consultancy services. Within that short span of its existence, I am very grateful for how far we have come in contributing to the University's success. MUST has maintained a strong performance in terms of student enrolment with 11,312 students registered in the current academic year 2023/2024.

As we celebrate these achievements, I would also like to put on record that, the University is continuing to implement a major project known as the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project, thanks to the support from the Government and World Bank for coming up with this Project. The implementation of the HEET project will undoubtedly transform the academic landscape at the University and enable MUST to operate more flexibly and resiliently in the long term.

To our students, we are delighted that you have chosen to become a part of this University. On behalf of the University Management, I wish you the best of luck in your educational endeavors, and we look forward to collaborating with you as you seize the opportunities MUST provides to achieve your aspirations and dreams.

This website provides our stakeholders with helpful resources to learn more about MUST, programmes offered, student and staff matters, ongoing projects, current events and other key information.
