Leading Centre of Excellence for Knowledge, Skills, and Applied Education in Science and Technology
The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) is one of the colleges of Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST). The College is organised into five academic departments: Civil Engineering, Geosciences and Mining Technology, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Electrical and Power Engineering, and Chemical Processing and Environmental Engineering.
CET offers a comprehensive portfolio of academic programmes at Diploma, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels. As of 2025, the College delivers 17 fully accredited programmes and is in the process of introducing an additional 14 programmes, which are currently at various stages of accreditation with the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).
In support of its academic and research mission, the College is equipped with newly constructed, state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories that enhance teaching and learning while enabling high-quality research and consultancy services. These activities are driven by a strong commitment to innovation, competitiveness, and the application of modern technologies, ensuring that the College’s outputs respond effectively to the evolving needs of industry and society.
To strengthen academic excellence and practical relevance, CET, through MUST, has established more than ten Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with a wide range of partners, including industries, mining companies, government institutions, non-governmental organisations, and local and international universities. These strategic partnerships enhance the learning environment, foster collaborative research, and offer students meaningful exposure to real-world engineering practices.
The College is further supported by a network of specialised units that enhance academic, research, and administrative functions. Collectively, these units ensure efficient service delivery, uphold academic quality, foster innovation and technology transfer, and strengthen engagement with stakeholders at all levels.
