Welcome to the Centre for Virtual and Continuing Education (CVCE) of Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST).
CVCE is a central academic unit dedicated to complementing the University's core functions of training, research, and consultancy through virtual and continuing education. The Centre serves as a bridge between traditional face-to-face academic offerings and innovative online learning, responding to the evolving educational needs of diverse learner populations, including working professionals, adult learners, distance learners, and international students.
Through the integration of virtual learning platforms and continuing education programmes, CVCE promotes lifelong learning, skills enhancement, flexibility, and academic excellence beyond the boundaries of the traditional classroom.
The Centre comprises two departments: the Department of Virtual Education and the Department of Continuing Education. Its core functions include;-
a) Developing and delivering online academic programmes, incorporating emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), and simulation-based learning to enhance the learning experience.
b) Designing, managing, and supporting fully online and hybrid undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programmes.
c) Ensuring academic quality and standards by maintaining the same rigorous academic standards for virtual programmes as those offered through face-to-face learning.
d) Promoting digital pedagogy and innovative content delivery through multimedia, interactive technologies, and other emerging digital learning tools.
e) Offering non-credit short courses, professional certification programmes, and personal enrichment programmes to meet diverse learning and professional development needs.
f) Responding to emerging trends and market demands in areas such as digital skills, entrepreneurship, leadership, languages, and technology.
g) Supporting reskilling and upskilling for professionals seeking career advancement, career transition, or new competencies.
h) Serving the community through accessible education, public seminars, and outreach initiatives that contribute to social and economic development.
i) Collaborating with academic departments to transform traditional courses into engaging online and blended learning formats.
j) Providing comprehensive support services to virtual learners, including orientation, academic advising, technical support, and access to digital libraries and other online learning resources.
k) Partnering with industries, government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to provide customised training and workforce development programmes.
