The functions of the Industrial Linkage and Labour Market Department are to:
- Co-ordinate conduct of Industrial linkage for students;
- Implement a participatory guideline review for Industrial Linkages and Labour Market;
- Maintain a database of Students’ Industrial Practical Training;
- Handle all matters related to fieldwork and students research programmes;
- Co-ordinate conduct of Labour Market for graduates;
- Handle students and academic staff complaints related to Labour Markets and Industrial Linkages; and
- Liaise with partners in supervision for the co-ordination of Labour Markets for Industrial Linkages.
- Develop collaborations between the College and the industry
- Train students to interact and communicate effectively at every level in the working situation
Objectives of Practical Training
The main objective of Practical Training is to promote the development of appropriate technology that meets national, regional and international needs through skills and practical-oriented training, research and consultancy. Specific objectives for Practical Training are to:
- Expose students to the work and its environment related to their profession
- Provide opportunities for students to acquire working experience in an industry/organization related to their field of study
- Assist the students to practice lifelong learning when they return to the College
- Train students to write technical reports after they have undergone the Practical Training
- Develop group work camaraderie
- Appreciate and internalize professional ethics
