Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Education programme req Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Diploma in Technical fields: Architecture Technology, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering,Environmental Engineering Mechanical, Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mining Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Resource and Sanitation Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning. Candidates with equivalent qualifications must also possess at least Secondary School Certificate with passes in Mathematics, Physics/Engineering Science and Chemistry.

At the end of this course students should be able to:

• Identify potential areas for educational research and formulate pertinent research problems and objectives to address the issues.
• Gain practical experience implementing methodologies, evaluating data and correlating material to education programs.
• Demonstrate mastery of qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods in research.
• Appreciate the importance of objective evaluation and ethical issues when reporting results to parents, teachers, administrators and other stakeholders.

Students have to complete and pass all core and selected elective courses at the end of the programme. Courses are assessed through continuous assessment and end of semester University Examinations. Continuous assessment comprises of tests, take home assignments, fieldwork reports, seminar presentations, performance/ exhibitions and/or combination of these depending on the nature of the course. Coursework will carry 40% of the University Examinations, while the final Examination will carry 60%. The coursework will comprise of individual assignments, quizzes and tests. Students shall be given, at the beginning of their programme of study.
