Admission to the Dip – ETE is open to candidates who have: 

i. CSEE qualification with a pass in at least four (4) non-religious subjects, three of which must include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science. 

                                                                       OR

ii. CSEE qualification with a pass in at least four (4) non-Religious subjects, two must be among the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with possessionof TRADE TEST GRADE I/ NVA LEVEL III of electronics, telecommunication, electrical, computer engineering issued by VETA. 

                                                                        OR

iii. CSEE from technical secondary schools with a pass in at least four (4) non-Religious subjects, three of which must be Mathematics, Engineering Science, Chemistry and any one of the following subjects:  Architectural Drafting/Building Construction, Electrical Engineering Science/Electrical Drafting, Workshop Technology/Mechanical Drafting. 

                                                                         OR

iv. CSEE from Vocation Education with pass in Mathematics and Engineering Science/any Engineering/ICT occupation/Computer Application. 

                                                                         OR

v. Foundation Course with a minimum GPA of 3.0 plus CSEE. The candidate must have demonstrated a certain Talent related to the field. The Talent will be assessed through reports and portfolios.

vi. International Applicants must have equivalent qualifications verified by TCU/NACTE.

A graduate of this program will have:

1.  General knowledge and understanding the basic theories and principles of electronics and electronic devices;

2.  An awareness and understanding of different telecommunication systems and their applications.;

3.  Skills in using ICT for the analysis, design and presentation of ideas and concepts in electronics and telecommunications;

4.  Ability to perform the installation and testing of various electronic and Telecommunications engineering equipment and systems;

5.  Capability to use the acquired knowledge and skills to critically evaluate and identify solutions to routine problems in electronics and telecommunications equipment and systems, and

6.  Ability to use the skills acquired for taking personal responsibility and initiative in deploying essential materials, techniques and practices for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining electronic and telecommunication equipment.

Students in the programme of Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering will be assessed through timed tests, individual and group assignments, laboratory works, presentations, Semester Examinations, Industrial Practical training, and Final year project work. In most of the subjects, the continuous assessment (CA) carries a weight of 40% whereas the Semester Examination carries 60%.
