Form Six Holders

Two principal passes of at least “D” grade at Advanced Level in Biology and  Chemistry or Physics and must have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a pass in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

OR

Diploma Holders

Holders of Diploma (NTA level 6) in Laboratory Sciences and Technology with an average of B or GPA not less than 3.0 and Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a pass  in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

OR

Possession of Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Laboratory Technology respectively, all with an average of B and Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a pass  in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

A graduate of bachelor degree in laboratory Science and Technology should be able to;

• Apply the broad and comparative knowledge base of Science and laboratory Technology.
• Apply a detailed knowledge of science and laboratory technology especially in the field of chemistry, biology and physics.
• Apply a critical understanding of the essential theories, scientific principles and related concepts based on solving scientific problems.
• Understand the provisional nature of the knowledge related with laboratory science and technological change in accordance to current development.
• Wide range of specialized skills to practice routine principles of enquiry and /or research in the subject of biology, chemistry, physics and other related field.
• A well-developed skill for the gathering, evaluation, analysis and presentation of information, ideas, concepts, qualitative and quantitative data on a wide range of scientific problems related to laboratory science and technology. This will include familiarity and competence in the use of routine materials, practices, and advanced skills in laboratory science subjects.
• Use knowledge, understanding and skills in identifying and analyzing laboratory science related problems by formulating, evaluating and applying scientific evidence-based solutions
• Work alone or with others in a self-directed activity within general guidelines or functions and works with some autonomy in wide range of activities related to laboratory science disciplines.                         
• Communicate results of their studies apply and transfer skills to contexts where personal responsibility, initiative and decision making are required.
• Identify, address their own learning opinion, draw conclusion on a current research development and provide recommendations for future studies.

Students shall be given, at the beginning of their programme of study, a copy of the following assessment regulations, in the assessment plan:

• Test and end of semester examinations:

• The number, composition, nature, date and time of these shall be specified.

• Programme Assignments

• The specification and date of submission shall be stated.

• Laboratory and workshop practical

• The number, composition, nature, date and time of these shall be specified.

• Assessment shall include at least two timed test under examination conditions and homework exercises in a specific semester. The weight of such Continuous Assessment in every course shall be 40% and Semester Examination shall be 60%, unless otherwise stated as stipulated in the curriculum for a given course.
