Resilience drives economic growth.
Climate change is driving economy-wide risks that undermine growth, strain public finances, and put lives and livelihoods at risk. For developing counties, building resilience is foundational – for fiscal stability and underpinning competitiveness. Evidence shows that every $1 invested in resilience yields $10.5 in benefits over time.
With $13+ billion in funding overall, CIF provides 80+ developing countries with the flexibility, scale, and predictability they need to plan for long-term transformation across energy systems, nature-based solutions, and resilience. Since 2008, CIF has provided $1 billion in large-scale resilience financing through the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience, exceeding all targets set for the investment program and generating key lessons.
Building on our track record, ARISE – Accelerating Resilience Investments and Innovations for Sustainable Economies – will deploy concessional finance through a country-led programmatic approach, anchored in national development priorities and fiscal frameworks.
