Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST) has emerged with three winners in the best research competition held during the opening of the 2026 National Education, Skills and Innovation Week in Tanga. The winners, Dr. Patrice Nyangi, Dr. Marco Mng'ong'o and Dr. Alvin Mulashani were awarded certificates after their research was recognised among the best studies presented at the event.

The certificates were presented by the Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Prof. Adolf Mkenda, at the opening ceremony, which brought together stakeholders from education, research, science, technology and innovation institutions. Earlier, Prof. Mkenda toured the pavilions of the participating institutions, where he had the opportunity to see and receive explanations about the research, technologies, innovations and products developed by researchers, students and experts.

Speaking after the event, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic, Research and Consultancy, Dr. Eliezer Brown Mwakalapa, congratulated the winners and urged them to continue conducting quality research with positive outcomes for society. He said the achievement reflects MUST's efforts to strengthen research, innovation and the use of technology in solving social and economic challenges, and encouraged other researchers to make use of national and international opportunities to showcase their work.

"This victory is a source of encouragement and motivation for MUST to continue investing in research and innovation. We congratulate our researchers and expect that these achievements will open more doors for collaboration, funding and the application of research results in society," said Dr. Mwakalapa.

This remark reflects the capacity and quality of the work carried out by MUST experts, and is expected to inspire staff and students to continue generating research and innovations that address challenges across the social, economic, industrial, health, agricultural, environmental and technological sectors.
