Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering (CE), Mbeya University of Science and Technology.

The Civil Engineering Department is an academic unit under the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at Mbeya University of Science and Technology. The department’s core mission is to provide quality teaching, research and consultancy services in its disciplines of Civil Engineering. The Department also conducts various short coursesin the field of Civil Engineering.

1. Teaching

The Department offers both postgraduate and undergraduate programmes namely:

• Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering;
• Masters of Science in Civil Engineering;
• Bachelor in Civil Engineering;
• Diploma in Civil Engineering and 
• Diploma in Highway Engineering. 

 2. Research

 The department is involved in wide range of research activities to solve society problems in the following areas:

• Water resources Engineering
• Irrigation Engineering
• Climate Change
• Transportation Planning
• Transportation Engineering
• Road Construction Materials
• Building Materials
• Road safety

3. Consultancy

The department through MUST Consultancy Bureau (MCB) offer consultancy services in the following areas:

• Planning and designing of bridges, hydraulic structures, roads and buildings;
• Construction supervision and evaluation of different building and civil infrastructures.

4. Short Courses

  The department conducts various short courses in the following areas:

• Transportation Engineering;
• Labour based Technology;
• Pavement maintanance;
• Road Safety;
• Water resources Engineering;
• Project Management and 
• Construction Materials.
